Educational Therapy

Educational therapy incorporates what I do as a learning specialist (see ‘Students’, ‘Families’ and ‘Schools’ above) in support of students / clients in academic domains along with a holistic consideration of each young person: their strengths, motivations, stressors and dreams. Social and emotional well-being is paramount.

As an educational therapist, I work with children and adults aged 12-25 in many capacities:

  • We determine academic, social and emotional goals.

  • We build on strengths and further enhance skills that are relatively weaker.

  • We develop executive skills.

  • We encourage self-advocacy with educators, schools, colleges and universities.

  • We consider obstacles and create solutions toward agency, autonomy and action.

We will implement a plan that utilizes information from a variety of sources beginning with client and family input as well as social, emotional, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological profiles.

As an Educational Therapist/Professional level (ET/P)—certified by the Association of Educational Therapists—I have completed supervised hours with a Board Certified Educational Therapist and have logged at least 1500 hours of direct service with students / clients.
